What do you mean “The aircraft navigation system fails in flight”? If it only means GPS fails in flight, then the pilot can still control the airplane with the help of INS(Inertial Navigation System), guidance station or magnetic compass to apply for radar guidance.
However, what if they don’t work in flight, I guess, the pilot is only able to depend on theirselves and find the visible landmarks.
